Reach for the Stars
Our second annual gala, held on October 7, 2015, raised funds in support of Pathways to Education Canada — a groundbreaking program helping at-risk youth across Canada graduate high school and pursue post-secondary education. The evening brought together generous supporters for a night of celebration, community, and giving.
Good morning Jyoti, I wanted to reach out and congratulate you on a fantastic event on Wednesday. Thank you so much for including Pathways in the celebration and for all of the effort and thought put into the evening. We are so appreciative of the Emajjin Children's Foundation's support.
Many, many thanks for allowing TOT and our young artists to be part of this amazing evening. From all I could observe, it was a great success and I have no doubt exceeded your goals as a fund-raising project. You and your colleagues have done a great service. The coverage you so kindly gave us in your programme is much appreciated — it helps raise our profile with an audience we might not otherwise have a chance to reach.
Our second gala was held in support of Pathways to Education Canada, a program that provides a comprehensive set of academic, financial, and social supports to youth in low-income communities across the country.
The results of the Pathways program have been groundbreaking — reducing high school dropout rates by as much as 70 per cent and increasing the rate at which youth go on to college or university by up to 300 per cent. For Emajjin, Pathways embodied everything we look for in a recipient charity: a proven track record, fiscal responsibility, and life-changing impact on children.
The evening featured performances by young artists from Toronto, a live and silent auction, and a warm gathering of supporters who believe in giving every child a fair shot at their future.
We live in one of the greatest countries in the world — yet a marked divide exists along the lines of educational opportunity. What if you couldn't finish high school? What if the support network you needed simply wasn't there? What if socio-economic factors, beyond your control, held you back?
Founded in 2001, Pathways to Education Canada operates nationally across Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Manitoba, and British Columbia. The program provides a comprehensive set of academic, financial, and social supports to youth in low-income communities. Its results have been groundbreaking — reducing high school dropout rates by as much as 70 per cent and increasing post-secondary attendance by up to 300 per cent.
For Emajjin, Pathways represented everything we believe in: a fiscally responsible, community-driven organization with a proven track record and a laser focus on changing the trajectory of children's lives.
