Our second gala on October 7, 2015 was held in support of Pathways to Education Canada.
The Pathways program provides a comprehensive set of academic, financial and social supports to youth. The results of this unique program have been groundbreaking, reducing high school dropout rates by as much as 70 per cent and increasing the rate at which youth go on to college or university by up to 300 per cent.
The recipient charity for 2015 was Pathways to Education Canada.
We live in one of the greatest countries in the world. We are blessed with abundance and truly have much to be grateful for. Yet in this land of plenitude, there exists a marked divide in our community. This division is along the lines of educational opportunities. Most of us in Canada have access to a free, quality education. We graduate from high school and continue to pursue careers of our choice.
But what if you couldn’t finish high school? What if the support network you needed to finish high school was not available? Or, if you were hampered by socio-economic factors, beyond your control? More importantly, what if there was no one in your circle to encourage you to finish school? Where would you go? Who would you turn to?
Founded in 2001, Pathways operates nationally across Canada with programs in Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Manitoba and British Columbia. The Pathways program provides a comprehensive set of academic, financial and social supports to youth. The results of this unique program have been groundbreaking, reducing high school dropout rates by as much as 70 per cent and increasing the rate at which youth go on to college or university by up to 300 per cent.
