The Sweet Dreams Gala on October 5, 2016 was held in support of Sleeping Children Around the World. Legendary hockey player Dave Dryden was the guest speaker.
In keeping with our core beliefs, Emajjin Children’s Foundation chose a recipient charity for 2016 that embodies all the values we hold dear; child-centred, integrity, a history of community service, and fiscal responsibility. We are honoured to support Sleeping Children Around The World (SCAW). This Canadian charity has been handing out sleeping kits to children around the world for the last 35 years. Read more about Sleeping Children Around The World.Bedkits are manufactured or purchased overseas by trustworthy organizations and individuals who use their local knowledge and expertise to pick the best bedkit items for the children living in that area. All bedkits are assembled in the country of distribution to eliminate shipping costs and to stimulate the local economy.
Every year, hundreds of SCAW trained volunteers of all ages travel overseas, paying out of their own pocket to ensure the delivery of these precious bedkits.
Volunteers in the country of distribution select children who would most benefit from receiving a bedkit, organize the manufacturing of bedkits, choose distribution sites and help travelling volunteers during their distribution excursion.
Each Bedkit costs $35. From inception, Sleeping Children Around The World will have distributed over 1.4 million bedkits to children in 34 developing countries this year.
