From our gala to their hands.

"Thank you Emajjin Children's Foundation for your generous support." — Sleeping Children Around the World, Kenya distribution team.
Every dollar raised at the Sweet Dreams Gala went directly toward purchasing and distributing bedkits to children in Kenya, each containing a mat or mattress, a mosquito net, school supplies, clothing, and footwear.

About the event
Sweet Dreams

In keeping with our core beliefs, Emajjin Children's Foundation chose a recipient charity for 2016 that embodies all the values we hold dear — child-centred, integrity, a history of community service, and fiscal responsibility. We were honoured to support Sleeping Children Around the World.

The Sweet Dreams Gala brought together supporters for an evening of music, dining, live and silent auctions, and heartfelt storytelling about the children whose lives are changed by something as simple as a warm place to sleep. Legendary hockey player Dave Dryden joined us as the evening's guest speaker, bringing his own passion for giving back to inspire our guests.

It is our hope that this gesture will help to change the lives of youngsters and give them hope for a brighter future — one bedkit, one child, one dream at a time.

About the charity
Sleeping Children Around the World

Sleeping Children Around the World (SCAW) was founded in 1979 by Murray and Margaret Dryden. SCAW is a 100% charitable, global community of volunteers and partners who have transformed the lives of over 1.4 million children. Their purpose is crystal clear — give every child the opportunity to have a good night's sleep. With sleep, the promise of a better tomorrow is realized.

SCAW distributes bedkits to children aged 6 to 12 in a ratio of 50% girls and 50% boys, from any culture or religion. Each bedkit contains a mat or mattress, a mosquito net to combat malaria, a schoolbag and school supplies, and clothing and footwear. Bedkits are manufactured or purchased overseas by trustworthy local organizations to eliminate shipping costs and stimulate the local economy.

Every year, hundreds of SCAW-trained volunteers travel overseas at their own expense to ensure the delivery of these precious bedkits. Each bedkit costs just $35. From inception, SCAW has distributed over 1.4 million bedkits to children in 34 developing countries — and they're not done yet.
